Te Ara o Te Ngahere

This week we had a special blessing of our nature track at school.  The track is called Te Ara o Te Ngahere - the path of the bush.  The children were very excited to hear Matua Piripi talk about Tane Mahuta as he was blessing the track.

It was a beautiful afternoon.

Ms. Jones has worked for many
years to establish the track

Waiting so beautifully!

We have been busy this week designing and then making our kites.

As you can see the children have put a lot of work and effort into their kites.  Tino pai tamariki ma!

Off on the bus

We learnt about all the different waka

This red line is where Tainui waka travelled
around the island before landing in Kawhia.

Looking out at the awa.

A carving on Te Winika

Looking how long Te Winika is.

Making our own waka.

Then we had a kai while we waited
for the bus to go back to school.

The children enjoyed hearing the
story of the Tongue of the Dog.

Winter is Coming

We have been exploring ideas about the coming of winter, leaves falling off trees, and how this happens. Our poem this week was about winter...
