Sorting and Ordering objects:

 Find a pile of objects around your house to order. Can you put these in order from smallest to biggest? These could be blocks, lego, sticks from outside, or anything! See if you can order them. Send me a photo or video of your objects. Sorting objects over and over, and in different ways helps our maths brain grow!

Here's an idea for maths learning that you can do around your home. 

Find the following shapes in your home: 

square 

triangle 

rectangle 

circle 

hexagon

You could take a photo or a video or draw a picture.

Who is in your bubble?

Who is in your bubble?
This afternoon you may like to draw a picture and share with me who is in your bubble. 

You can either draw directly on Seesaw, or you can draw on paper and take a photo and share it with me that way. 

If you can write the names of the people who are in your bubble that would be awesome!

A fun and active game to learn letters:

Alphabet Hop:
This game can be played inside or outside. 

If you are playing outside you will need some chalk. 

If you are playing inside you can write the letters on some pieces of paper. 

Ask Mum or Dad or a big brother or sister to help write the letters. 

You can write capital letters and lowercase letters. 

Mum, Dad, or your brother or sister then calls out the sound of the letter, and you need to hop on it.  

You can also play this game with numbers or mix up numbers and letters.

Monday 23 August - Home Learning

 Kia ora all,

Today we begin our learning online.  This is probably new for you and your child, and the second time around for me, so I am still learning!

I will provide one or two activities each morning, please note that you can do as little or as much as suits your family and your child.

There will be other activities on this blog that you can access at your own pace as well.  If you just want to share with me a photo of something you have drawn or made, or your play, I would love to see that too. It is completely up to you.

Now is also a great time to be learning life skills such as looking after a pet, helping the family with daily jobs or projects, and connecting through fun and cooperative activities.  Our tamariki need to feel safe and loved through this time of lockdown and uncertainty.  

Thank you for your support as we launch into this distance learning.   I will use both the blog and Seesaw for activities.  It will be helpful for me to know which platform suits you best. Please feel free to be in contact as I would appreciate any feedback about how things are going.

Our Kowhai Operetta this year is based on Maui and the Sun.

Children have draw beautiful Te Rā (the Sun) pictures with sharpies and then used orange and yellow dye over the top. 

We have also been writing about and drawing Te Rā in our Home Books.
